Cheri Lucas Dog Behaviorist

Boot CampBoot camp was created for dogs that require more than a private consultation or a group workshop. In some cases, dogs need to be removed from their home environment in order to begin the rehabilitation process. In particular, dogs with dog aggression problems benefit greatly by being immersed in an environment with a large pack of balanced, social dogs.

Dogs who are candidates for Boot Camp included dogs that are:

    • aggressive with other dogs
    • aggressive with humans
    • disrespectful of family members
    • destructive and out of control
    • non-responsive to commands
    • nearly impossible to walk on a leash

Boot camp dogs receive one-on-one attention from dog behaviorist, Cheri Lucas, on a daily basis, Cheri evaluates the dogs issues and creates a plan for their behavior rehabilitation. Boot camp dogs become integrated in the Second Chance pack, and begin to experience the joy of being able to get along with members of their own species.

Boot camp is not for dogs who occasionally misbehave or require no more than basic obedience skills. Boot Camp deals with serious behavior problems that cannot be resolved by the owner alone. Prior to being accepted in the Boot Camp program, a behavior consultation is required to see if the dog’s behavior warrants being involved in the program.

Cheri on private consultationPrivate consultations are available for clients who want one on one training with dog behavior expert, Cheri Lucas. Private consultations last between 2.0 to 3.0 hours, and can take place either at the Second Chance Ranch, or the client’s home, depending on the severity and issue of the dog or the location of the client.

Cheri begins each consultation with an evaluation of your dog’s problem behavior. You will learn the difference between dog psychology and human psychology, and why it matters in your relationship with your dog. You will learn tools and techniques specific to your dog’s issues which will allow you to see changes in his or her behavior right away. You will also learn the rules of “the walk,” and how to teach your dog to respect you, your family, and your home. You will learn how to recognize neurotic, aggressive and protective behavior, and how to turn the behavior around.

If your dog is dog-aggressive, Cheri will usually suggest the consultation take place at the Second Chance Ranch in Templeton, California. Cheri’s balanced pack of Second Chance dogs are instrumental in helping dog aggressive dogs become social with their own kind.

Please contact Holly at dogbehavior@tcsn.net or call 805-434-3901 for prices. Cheri travels to Los Angeles approximately once a month to work with clients in the LA area.

Public Speaking and seminars on dog behavior and training have been provided by Cheri around the country. Having mentored under good friend Cesar Millan for 10 years, Cheri presents the same life-changing message to her audience that Millan once brought to her. Cheri's presentation is clear, concise and enlightening. In addition to her presentation, Cheri offers an effective question and answer period to connect with dog owners on a more personal level.

Cheri shows her audience that the philosophy and techniques she teaches are the natural, instinctual principles that have governed dog behavior for thousands of years. Cheri's students receive the necessary tools and techniques for them to break free from their old habits and begin achieving real results. By teaching people to begin to relate to their dogs as the animals they were meant to be, her audience becomes empowered to finally develop the relationship they've always wanted with their dogs.
